Dance Classes

Classical Ballet is the foundation of most dance styles. The dancer wears technique shoes until their bones are strong enough to wear Pointe shoes to dance ‘on their toes’. En Pointe ballet syllabus is based on The Royal Academy of Dance technique.

Contemporary dance is a more relaxed, free style of dance, in which the choreographer uses emotions and moods to design their own steps, in contrast to ballet’s structured code of steps. It has deliberate use of gravity, whereas ballet strives to be light and airy.

Jazz dance is a broad range of dance, including Theatrical Jazz and Modern Jazz, and is normally danced to popular dance music.

Lyrical dance is a fusion of ballet and jazz dance techniques. Generally it interprets the lyrics of a song through dance.

Modern dance is a style of theatrical dance that rejects the limitations of classical ballet and favors movement deriving from the expression of inner feeling.

Hip Hop dance is street dance styles, primary danced to hip hop music.

Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using one's shoes, as well as the floor as a percussive instrument. Tap dancing is most often danced to upbeat jazz or pop music.
